valentines day flowers men - Chinese Valentine’s Day

The most romantic day of the year is celebrated as valentines day flowers men Chinese Valentine’s Day History
The tale of the Chinese Valentine's Day takes back to the ancient times about the love story of an orphaned cowherd and the seventh daughter of Emperor of heaven. Stories indicate that orphaned poor boy named Niu Lang lived with his brother and sister-in-law, and earned his living through grazing an old ox on the field. The ox was an immortal that had been punished for his mistakes and sent to earth for repentance. The ox asked the cowherd to visit the river bank, if he wished to get married and change his life entirely. As directed, Niu Lang went to the stream and to his surprise, found seven beautiful daughters of the Emperor who had descended from heaven for a bath.

The beauty of the youngest daughter Zhi Nu enthralled the cowherd, who then stole her fairy clothes without which she could not return back to heaven. He agreed to return back the clothes only if she accepted to marry him. Left with no option, she agreed and the two got married. Eventually, the couple had two children. With his period of penitence coming to an end, the ox asked the cowherd to keep his hide, lest he would need it in times of troubles. On the other hand, the Emperor now started missing his daughter and hence, sent Zhi Nu’s grandmother to bring her back to heaven. Unable to stay separated from his wife, Niu Lang wore the ox’s hide, carried his two kids and wife’s old fairy clothes, and set out to look for his wife in the sky.

But the grandmother could not tolerate the union and hence, created the Milky Way to separate the two lovers. With this, the princess was shifted to the star Vega in the Lyra (Harp) constellation while the cowherd, along with his two children, was sent to the star Altair (Flying One) in the Aquila (Eagle) constellation. And thus, the Vega star came to be known as the Weaving Maid Star and Altair star as the Cowherd Star. However, their separation did not last long as the mother took pity and chose to arrange for their meeting once a year on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month. The Chinese believe that on this day, the magpies create a bridge with their wings, allowing the two lovers to cross over and unite with one another.

Chinese Valentine’s Day Celebrations
Just as China has a different tale to narrate the history behind observing Valentine's Day, celebrations also vary from those seen in the rest of the world. It’s not just the exchange of flowers, cards, and chocolates in China that, in turn, largely marks the Valentine’s Day traditions across the world. China brings into limelight some specific colorful and spirited rituals. Couples who are yet to get married visit the temple of Matchmaker to pray for their love, happiness, and possibility of their marriage, while those who are still single, offer prayers for finding a suitable match to complete their love life.

The Weaving Maid, or Zhi Nu was very talented and excelled in handicraft skills. Thus, the festival is also called The Daughter’s Festival wherein unmarried Chinese girls pray to the Weaving Maid to bless them with the same skills as the princess. To find out whether they are smart or not, the girls place a needle on the surface of the water when the Vega star lands high up in the sky. If the needle floats, it means that the girl is smart and well prepared to find herself a husband. Some provinces of China decorate the horns of ox with flowers as a sign to prevent them from all kinds of disasters. Women wash their tresses, revealing the fresh and shiny locks on the night of valentines day flowers men .

These little delights will bring an element of light, fluffy love and happiness to the table on the key date of the year to unlock all hearts.
(Makes 10 small cupcakes)

Ingredients:

For the Cakes:

Egg (free range please) 1
plain flour (or use self raising and omit the baking powder) 75G
Sugar 50g
Loseley Summer Meadow Butter 62g
Baking powder 1/2 tsp
Pixley Berries blackcurrant cordial 3 tsp
Pink food colouring (optional) few drops

For the Frosting:

If you will be spreading rather than piping your frosting you will need rather less.

Loseley Summer Meadow Butter 75g
Icing sugar 250g
Pixley Berries blackcurrant cordial 1 – 2 tbs

Method:

Add the eggs, butter, flour, sugar, baking powder & salt to a bowl and beat with a hand whisk until blended. Add the cordial and briefly mix again. The batter should be loose enough to dollop off a spoon.

Line a bun tin with fairy cake cases. Fill each case 2/3 with batter and bake at 190C / GM 5 for about 12 minutes.

Chef’s Tip:

The secret to fluffy buttercream is to beat the butter really well before you add any sugar. The trick is to make the butter cream in the food processor to prevent the kitchen being covered in clouds of icing sugar. If you make it with a hand mixer you will need to add the icing sugar slowly to the butter.

Put the butter in the food processor bowl and process for a minute or so, until soft and fluffy. Pour in the icing sugar and cordial, put the lid back on and cover with a damp tea towel, and process again. Scrape the sides down adding more cordial or icing sugar if needed and process again.

Decorate your cakes, using sprinkles and love hearts valentines day flowers men .

Both raw cake batter and the frosting freeze well.

Loseley Summer Meadow Butter is packed in a 250g tub and costs £1.39p.

valentines day flowers men - Hanoi concludes New Year flower fest

Hanoi concluded its third New Year Flower Festival Monday evening after putting on a four day street exhibition of flowers and flower installations in its downtown area.

The annual New Year celebration activity drew more than 3 million visitors to the festival venue, which was located around the city’s Hoan Kiem Lake and Dinh Tien Hoang Street, a senior official estimated.

Nguyen Khac Loi, deputy head of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said this year’s crowds certainly outnumbered last year’s 3 million visitors however, the festival’s security was much better.

Now in its third year, the festival has previously witnessed ugly scenes in which locals jostled to pluck, touch, and take pictures with the flowers, or bring them home. Most of the exhibition had been badly damaged by the time the event concluded every year.

To cope with the situation, the local government placed heavy security around the site this year, and strung rope around each installation to prevent visitors from getting too close,.

On the third day, organizers removed the ropes at some of the replicas, but later changed their mind when the crowd poured in and damaged the flowers.

After the festival, organizers will dispose of the valentines day flowers men in order to prevent what happened last year, when visitors elbowed each other as they tried to bring them home.

Also, unlike in the original plan, authorities will not sell the valentines day flowers men to visitors either.

valentines day flowers men - Thieves break in to florists

THE owner of a city centre florists has spoken of her upset after her shop was attacked and burgled — just three months after she moved to the premises.

The business, which is owned by Mumbles resident Barbara Pillery, only moved from its previous premises in Castle Street in October, last year.

Ms Pillery, 56, said: "We have only been here a couple of months as we used to be in Castle Street and it has been really quiet here.

Upset

"We are obviously upset, they have bashed the door in and kicked it off its frame.

"There are no security cameras around here and the police said they were quite amazed by that.

"We were doing flowers for a wedding on Saturday, when we came in there was wedding flowers everywhere and mess everywhere too.

"Some money from the till, a laptop and some jewellery has all gone. The door must have been open all night as well, so anybody could have come in." Ms Pillery, who has been a florist for "years and years" added: "It is just so upsetting, you struggle enough as it is, it is never the same when you known someone has been in here.

"We found out when we came in to open up on Saturday morning, you cannot do anything about it."

A spokesman for South Wales Police confirmed the incident.

She added: "The incident was reported to us on Saturday at 8.56am and it happened at some time between 6pm on Friday and 8.56am in the morning.

"It is still being investigated." valentines day flowers men

Mr Blackwell added: “Mark believed in the young people of Dinnington Comprehensive School and saw no reason why they shouldn’t fulfil their potential and go on to be extremely successful. It was to this end that he devoted his working life.”

“When I joined the school in 2007 I was immediately impressed by his enthusiasm, dedication, and overwhelming sense of duty.”

Valentines Day Flowers Men - Questioning the Locals | Eugene Keppers

Now is the time of year when that you finish your gift shopping and then – THWAP! – suddenly remember people like your mail carrier and garbage man. People who are easy to forget, but often deserve a little something for their efforts throughout the year. Well we thought we’d interview one, and instantly Gene came to mind. We know him as a famously kind crossing guard, who gives the kids candy during holidays, drives a PT Cruiser covered in Packers decorations, and infamously goes “all out” with holiday decorations at his home.

What place considers you a regular?

I suppose Perkins, I go there. And Grizzlys. Once and a while I’ll go to the airport. We just had our Christmas party [for area crossing guards] valentines day flowers men .

What frustrates you about the Chippewa Valley?

Quit having accidents on the corner [of Margaret and Highland]. Someone had an accident and smashed up my flower bed.

Favorite local festival?

Festival in the Pines. We always went to that. Not this year, but the last four before that.

If you could eat one meal from an area restaurant for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Steak from Grizzlys. I also like their cheesy hashbrowns.

Describe your last encounter with the police department.

After the car accident on my corner, my flower bed was all ruined. I called down there, and asked if they knew about the accident. ‘Yeah,’ they says. ‘Is something wrong?’ I said to them, ‘Well my flower bed got run over.’ They says, ‘Oh, we don’t have anything here about a flower bed.’ I don’t know how they couldn’t have seen it. I told them to have the cop who was here call me when he got in. So he does, and I tell him, and he says he doesn’t know anything about the flower bed. I says to him, ‘I don’t know how, you had to have walked right by it.’ He told me to take some pictures and bring them down to get insurance money for it, so I have to do that.”

What Oakwood Mall store do you find yourself frequenting most often?

The Kitchen Store. I get my glasses done out at Vision World, too.

Who is the greatest Wisconsinite of all-time?

Aaron Rodgers. We’re real big Packer fans here.

If you could magically add one store, restaurant or shop to the area, what would it be and why?

I’d like to see a Denny’s. Denny’s wants to come in, but they won’t let them. ... They were going to have a Denny‘s come in on the corner by Kohl‘s, but that Asian restaurant [Jade Garden] came in instead.

Favorite part about your job?

Letting the little ones across, my little kids. I like Halloween, Valentines Day, and Christmas a lot. I’ll bring a bag of candy bars and give them to the little guys, and they enjoy that. They like crossing at my corner. I get a lot of them on Halloween. Usually I get 24 candy bars, last year I only had one left at the end. I’ll have to get a lot more next year, because they’ll be there.

Do the same kids come everyday?

Oh yep, every morning and every night. I have three little ones that come every day and they say, ‘See you tonight!’ and ‘See you tomorrow!’ every time. I really enjoy that part of my job.

So you like working with kids?

That’s what makes my day. When they come and say ‘Hi.’ One little fellar came for Halloween in the car – in the summer they walk, but when it gets cold more get picked up, but they still stop and talk to me for a bit – well, this little fellar looks into my bucket and see’s that I have another candy bar in there, and he asks, ‘Can I have another one?’ I couldn’t say no. They’re just so dog-gone cute.

You’ll be moving to Altoona soon. Are you going to continue to work as a crossing guard?

Oh yeah, I’ll be there. I’m not giving up until I get too old. Rain or snow, I’ll be there. As long as I can do it, I will do it.
