valentines day flowers men - Community stunned by Mark’s death

“He was proud of Dinnington and Dinnington was proud of him” - touching words about a much loved teacher whose sudden death has rocked the local community.

Dinnington Comprehensive School PE teacher Mark Lovett died of a heart attack at his Worksop home on Thursday 15th December - just days before his 55th birthday.

This week tributes from all corners of the community - including pupils and staff, past and present - have been paid to the teacher.

And on what would have been his 55th birthday the school was opened to allow people to lay valentines day flowers men Dinnington Comprehensive head teacher Paul Blackwell said: “Having worked and lived in the community for 32 years Mark was extremely well known and hugely respected.”

“His sudden death is a massive shock to the school and wider community but their response and the laying of flowers in the school hall on Friday and Monday showed just how he had touched people’s lives and I know has been a huge comfort to his family.”

“He was proud of Dinnington and Dinnington is proud of him.”

Mr Lovett, who was married to June, joined the school as a PE teacher in January 1979 and in 1983 joined the school’s pastoral team - where he remained for the rest of his career.

He later became Head of Osborne House, Head of Lower School and for a short while acting assistant head teacher.valentines day flowers men

Mr Blackwell added: “Mark believed in the young people of Dinnington Comprehensive School and saw no reason why they shouldn’t fulfil their potential and go on to be extremely successful. It was to this end that he devoted his working life.”

“When I joined the school in 2007 I was immediately impressed by his enthusiasm, dedication, and overwhelming sense of duty.”

“No task was too great, no request too big. If it meant that the students would be helped then Mark was up for the challenge and prepared to do whatever it would take.”

“He constantly but sensitively challenged under performance and always encouraged young people to learn from their mistakes and go on to be successful, whether that be in the classroom or out on the playing fields.”

Dozens of tributes flooded into the schools website page.

Ella Tweed wrote: “R.I.P Mr Lovett you will always be in our hearts.”

Keighley Schofield wrote: “R.I.P Mr Lovett, a fabulous teacher and wonderful man, who will be sadly missed by many. Such a shock! Thoughts go out to his family at this extremely sad time.”

Kristie Johnston wrote: “You were a fantastic teacher loved by all you taught past and present and all that knew you personally. You are an inspiration to many and always listened, encouraged and guided your students to be the best they could be this is why you were such an important teacher to me. You always saw the best in all people and for this I’m truly grateful so R.I.P sir.”

Mr Lovett’s funeral is being held at St Leonards Church, in Dinnington at 12pm on Thursday 29th December.

His family have for donations to charity - to be decided - in lieu of flowers at the funeral. Until the charity has been nominated people can send their donations to Dinnington Comprehensive.

valentines day flowers men - Valentine gifts from the heart: Ideas from Rockford Woman

“Skidamarink a dink a dink, skidamarink a doo, I love you.”

Sing that kiddie ditty to your little one and give him or her a book and/or a stuffed animal for Valentine’s Day, and you’re bound to get a “Skidamarink a dink ... I love you,” refrain right back at you. Sweet! valentines day flowers men
Ah, if only the older loves in our lives were so easy to please and buy for.

Don’t fret. Rockford Woman to the rescue.

We have a few suggestions from local retailers, including one that’s sure to knock the shoes and socks off your longtime hubby. Think Punta Cana vacation.

Not that far along in your romantic relationship? How about a partially cooked dinner for you and your new boyfriend that you pick up and take to his place to finish cooking, with a bottle of wine included.

Add massage oils, chocolates and flowers to the list for your other valentines.

1. For your new boyfriend
The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. And if that’s the case, Five Forks Market, 6565 Lexus Drive, Rockford, has a Valentine’s Day-to-go dinner sure to satisfy his hunger.

And you make it hot, hot, hot by finishing the partially cooked meal at his place or yours. You pick up at Five Forks the filet steak, stuffed chicken breast or chicken-and-steak dinner that comes with potato risotto or twice-baked potato, vegetable, dessert (could be a Flourless Chocolate Cake by Daniel or a chocolate cheesecake), with a bottle of wine. And you get cooking instructions. Cost is $65. Orders must be placed in advance. 815-229-5500, fiveforksmarket.com.

2. For your girlfriend/mother
Next to diamonds, flowers could be a girlfriend/mother’s best friend for valentines day flowers men .

Stems Floral Design, 4001 N. Perryville Road, Loves Park, offers arrangements that include a $90 one in a vase with green hydrangea, bells of Ireland, orange celosia, leucadendron and curly willow. For more information, call 815-633-5100 or visit stems123.com.

Cost is $65 in a vase that’s about 12 inches tall. For more information, call 815-395-8320 or visit ofallonsflowers.com.

3. For any chocolate-lover
A chocolate in the mouth is worth two on the plate. Anything is good and useful if it’s made of chocolate. We could go on and on extolling the virtues of chocolate, especially for giving (and receiving) on Valentine’s Day. A taste of chocolate heaven is close by at Chocolat by Daniel, 211 E. State St., Rockford, where photos for this story were taken.

Chocolat by Daniel features chocolates that are ever-changing. Here, the sliced piece is a truffle torte. Others are Intrigue, with olive oil and sea salt; Suitor, with port wine and mulling spices; Monique, with raisins in brandy; Rugged Adventurer, with silky 72% Venezuelan bittersweet; the classic French truffle rolled in cocoa powder; and Dream, with anise coriander and cardamom.
The selection changes often, so the pieces shown may not be available on any given day.

Daniel’s chocolates are made fresh in small batches from raw Belgian, French, Swiss, Columbian and Venezuelan chocolate and contain no wax, preservatives, artificial flavors, corn syrup or added sugar. A wide and ever-changing selection of chocolates are available for $2.25 a piece or six for $13 plus tax, as well as chocolate creations in shapes, such as slippers and violins. For more information, call 815-969-7990 or.

4. For your new husband
Get a couple’s massage. “We offer a cozy, romantic experience,” says Megan Kelley, dayspa director at WM Day Spa Salon, 6555 Lexus Drive, Rockford (815-398-4000, wmdayspa.com).

“It’s a great way to introduce a partner who has never gotten a massage before in a way that makes them feel more comfortable the first time. Some men are apprehensive about getting a massage because of the nudity involved. To have their wife or girlfriend there is reassuring.” Cost for the both of you: $80 to $100 for 30 minutes to $180 to $200 for 90 minutes.

Another option: Sing “Come on, come on, come on now, touch me, baby” from the Doors “Touch Me” while you apply massage oils to each other.

Aveda massage oils at WM Day Spa Salon include:
Calming Composition features “clarified jojoba oil and a tranquil blend of rose and other pure flower and plant essences.” Use as a body massage, add to running water for a soothing bath. $21.

Active Composition features wintergreen oil and menthol, and its “exhilarating blend of essences helps soothe tired, sore muscles with a combination of cooling and heating sensations.” It carries an invigorating aroma, is good for deep-penetrating massages, and awakens and refreshes senses. $21.

5. For your longtime husband
“At the beach, life is different. Time doesn’t move hour to hour but mood to moment.” We second that anonymous writer’s quote and give you a few details about a vacation at one of the most happening places: Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.

It is known for endless stretches of beaches. All of the resorts are spread out on large tracts of beach. No overcrowding here. No resort is taller than the highest palm tree. Average temperature is 86 degrees.

Cost is $1,750 a person for seven nights, from Rockford at the Iberostar Resort, and includes airfare, transfer, hotels, all food and drinks.

Closer to home, try taking in any of the art, science, history museums, theaters and restaurants, and then spend the night at the Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile, 540 N. Michigan Ave., Chicago. A bottle of champagne and chocolate-dipped strawberries are included. Cost is $264 to $404.

Valentines Day Flowers Men - Questioning the Locals | Eugene Keppers

Now is the time of year when that you finish your gift shopping and then – THWAP! – suddenly remember people like your mail carrier and garbage man. People who are easy to forget, but often deserve a little something for their efforts throughout the year. Well we thought we’d interview one, and instantly Gene came to mind. We know him as a famously kind crossing guard, who gives the kids candy during holidays, drives a PT Cruiser covered in Packers decorations, and infamously goes “all out” with holiday decorations at his home.

What place considers you a regular?

I suppose Perkins, I go there. And Grizzlys. Once and a while I’ll go to the airport. We just had our Christmas party [for area crossing guards] valentines day flowers men .

What frustrates you about the Chippewa Valley?

Quit having accidents on the corner [of Margaret and Highland]. Someone had an accident and smashed up my flower bed.

Favorite local festival?

Festival in the Pines. We always went to that. Not this year, but the last four before that.

If you could eat one meal from an area restaurant for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Steak from Grizzlys. I also like their cheesy hashbrowns.

Describe your last encounter with the police department.

After the car accident on my corner, my flower bed was all ruined. I called down there, and asked if they knew about the accident. ‘Yeah,’ they says. ‘Is something wrong?’ I said to them, ‘Well my flower bed got run over.’ They says, ‘Oh, we don’t have anything here about a flower bed.’ I don’t know how they couldn’t have seen it. I told them to have the cop who was here call me when he got in. So he does, and I tell him, and he says he doesn’t know anything about the flower bed. I says to him, ‘I don’t know how, you had to have walked right by it.’ He told me to take some pictures and bring them down to get insurance money for it, so I have to do that.”

What Oakwood Mall store do you find yourself frequenting most often?

The Kitchen Store. I get my glasses done out at Vision World, too.

Who is the greatest Wisconsinite of all-time?

Aaron Rodgers. We’re real big Packer fans here.

If you could magically add one store, restaurant or shop to the area, what would it be and why?

I’d like to see a Denny’s. Denny’s wants to come in, but they won’t let them. ... They were going to have a Denny‘s come in on the corner by Kohl‘s, but that Asian restaurant [Jade Garden] came in instead.

Favorite part about your job?

Letting the little ones across, my little kids. I like Halloween, Valentines Day, and Christmas a lot. I’ll bring a bag of candy bars and give them to the little guys, and they enjoy that. They like crossing at my corner. I get a lot of them on Halloween. Usually I get 24 candy bars, last year I only had one left at the end. I’ll have to get a lot more next year, because they’ll be there.

Do the same kids come everyday?

Oh yep, every morning and every night. I have three little ones that come every day and they say, ‘See you tonight!’ and ‘See you tomorrow!’ every time. I really enjoy that part of my job.

So you like working with kids?

That’s what makes my day. When they come and say ‘Hi.’ One little fellar came for Halloween in the car – in the summer they walk, but when it gets cold more get picked up, but they still stop and talk to me for a bit – well, this little fellar looks into my bucket and see’s that I have another candy bar in there, and he asks, ‘Can I have another one?’ I couldn’t say no. They’re just so dog-gone cute.

You’ll be moving to Altoona soon. Are you going to continue to work as a crossing guard?

Oh yeah, I’ll be there. I’m not giving up until I get too old. Rain or snow, I’ll be there. As long as I can do it, I will do it.
