Ingredients:

For the Cakes:

Egg (free range please) 1
plain flour (or use self raising and omit the baking powder) 75G
Sugar 50g
Loseley Summer Meadow Butter 62g
Baking powder 1/2 tsp
Pixley Berries blackcurrant cordial 3 tsp
Pink food colouring (optional) few drops

For the Frosting:

If you will be spreading rather than piping your frosting you will need rather less.

Loseley Summer Meadow Butter 75g
Icing sugar 250g
Pixley Berries blackcurrant cordial 1 – 2 tbs

Method:

Add the eggs, butter, flour, sugar, baking powder & salt to a bowl and beat with a hand whisk until blended. Add the cordial and briefly mix again. The batter should be loose enough to dollop off a spoon.

Line a bun tin with fairy cake cases. Fill each case 2/3 with batter and bake at 190C / GM 5 for about 12 minutes.

Chef’s Tip:

The secret to fluffy buttercream is to beat the butter really well before you add any sugar. The trick is to make the butter cream in the food processor to prevent the kitchen being covered in clouds of icing sugar. If you make it with a hand mixer you will need to add the icing sugar slowly to the butter.

Put the butter in the food processor bowl and process for a minute or so, until soft and fluffy. Pour in the icing sugar and cordial, put the lid back on and cover with a damp tea towel, and process again. Scrape the sides down adding more cordial or icing sugar if needed and process again.

Decorate your cakes, using sprinkles and love hearts valentines day flowers men .

Both raw cake batter and the frosting freeze well.

valentines day flowers men - Thieves break in to florists

THE owner of a city centre florists has spoken of her upset after her shop was attacked and burgled — just three months after she moved to the premises.

Vandals kicked in the door of Fleurs in Mansel Street some time in the early hours of Saturday and stole a number of items, including cash, a laptop and some jewellery.valentines day flowers men

The business, which is owned by Mumbles resident Barbara Pillery, only moved from its previous premises in Castle Street in October, last year.

Ms Pillery, 56, said: "We have only been here a couple of months as we used to be in Castle Street and it has been really quiet here.

Upset

"We are obviously upset, they have bashed the door in and kicked it off its frame.

"There are no security cameras around here and the police said they were quite amazed by that.

"We were doing flowers for a wedding on Saturday, when we came in there was wedding flowers everywhere and mess everywhere too.

"Some money from the till, a laptop and some jewellery has all gone. The door must have been open all night as well, so anybody could have come in." Ms Pillery, who has been a florist for "years and years" added: "It is just so upsetting, you struggle enough as it is, it is never the same when you known someone has been in here.

"We found out when we came in to open up on Saturday morning, you cannot do anything about it."

A spokesman for South Wales Police confirmed the incident.

She added: "The incident was reported to us on Saturday at 8.56am and it happened at some time between 6pm on Friday and 8.56am in the morning.

"It is still being investigated." valentines day flowers men

Mr Blackwell added: “Mark believed in the young people of Dinnington Comprehensive School and saw no reason why they shouldn’t fulfil their potential and go on to be extremely successful. It was to this end that he devoted his working life.”

“When I joined the school in 2007 I was immediately impressed by his enthusiasm, dedication, and overwhelming sense of duty.”

“No task was too great, no request too big. If it meant that the students would be helped then Mark was up for the challenge and prepared to do whatever it would take.”

“He constantly but sensitively challenged under performance and always encouraged young people to learn from their mistakes and go on to be successful, whether that be in the classroom or out on the playing fields.”

Dozens of tributes flooded into the schools website page.
